Newsletter - April 2008

Dear Alumni,

We have a few events coming up:

1. Fr. Deignan Scholarship

It is the time of the year that we start the Fr. Deignan Scholarship selection process. Please submit your application or remind those interested to submit their applications by the end of this month. For more information about the scholarship, visit the following website:

We will interview candidates in mid May, and announce the scholarship recipients in June. Bear in mind that we have raised the scholarship to $8,000 a year for two years. Two students will be selected to receive the scholarship.

2. Badminton social & Lunch

We will hold a badminton social at the Golden Gate badminton club (GGBC) in Menlo Park on Saturday, May 10th. We'll gather at the lobby at 9:45am. The cost is $10 per person. Kelly Chang will organize the game. We'll need a couple of people to help. After the badminton game, we will go to have dim sum at ABC Restaurant, Foster City, at 1pm. We'll reserve tables under "Wah Yan". Bring your family. Join us at lunch even if you don't plan to go to the badminton game. Reply to if you plan to come to either the badminton game or the lunch. You can find direction to GGBC and ABC at the following links

3. Picnic & Election

We will hold our annual picnic at the end of June or early July. We will notify you when a date is set. This is also time for our bi-annual executive committee election.

4. the Starry Fantasy

A few of our alumni at De Anza College actively participate in a South Bay Chinese Catholic Church fundraising event. It is coming up this weekend. Please support them. Here is a message from Nelson Yu:
